Are your staff ‘clocking off’ early?

Research suggests that British workers mentally ‘check out’ for the weekend at 10.19am on Fridays!!

While some of those will be dreaming of hitting the beer garden later (especially in the summer months) or that romantic weekend away they have planned; for some they have simply ‘switched off’ because they are de-motivated by their surroundings and their job!  If staff are not working to their full potential it doesn’t just affect the individual, it will also have an impact on your bottom line, so isn’t it time you did something about it?

As a business owner, to get the best from your staff, it’s up to you to give them an environment that’s both inspiring and motivating.  So, the first challenge is to design a workplace that encourages people to actually want to be at work.  The right lighting, temperature, acoustics, layout and office furniture can all have an effect.

The second is to understand that different people are affected by different things; what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another.  At Whitespace, we appreciate that not every company can offer choice to employees, but all organisations should carefully consider what they can do to give employees the spaces and tools that enhance and support their workday tasks. Introducing a flexible layout, fit-for-purpose furniture, a space for employees to take a break away from their desks and/or even a private area where they can make a personal call if required, will almost certainly increase staff well-being.  The more comfortable and happy your staff, the more productive they’ll be.

When you employ us to carry out an office redesign or refurbishment, we like to talk not just to you as the business owner, but also your staff, after all they are the people who will occupy the space.  It’s essential for us to understand how they currently work, how they interact with others and assess their likes and dislikes about their current environment.   Not only does this process give us a much better understanding of how to develop the office interior going forward, but engaging staff from an early stage can pay dividends in the future when they see their ideas come to fruition.

Our knowledge and experience in office interior design helps us to ensure that the environment can be planned as cost effectively as possible whilst still creating inspiring surroundings for the people using the space.

So, to avoid your staff ‘clocking off’ early this Friday, call us on 03300 415 119, we’re confident that we can deliver the ideal workplace to motivate and inspire.
