Priestley College – Staff Breakout Area
Following our successful delivery of their new reception area in 2011, we were invited by Priestley College in Warrington to redesign and furnish their staff canteen area.
The brief was to update the staff breakout facilities and in doing so create the ideal space where staff can relax outside of the classroom. Breakout areas are fast becoming an essential part of creating efficient and effective work environments in every workplace, not just offices!
We began the process by stripping out existing walls, ceilings and flooring, which, going forward, gave us a blank canvas in which to work. Once the initial building work was complete, we then got to work creating the space… This included installing new ceilings, lighting, flooring, kitchen facilities, furniture and decoration.
We fitted a suspended ceiling to hide unsightly cabling and pipe work, with a feature bulkhead ceiling above the kitchen area.
Gloss white kitchen units with striking black worktops were installed to brighten the space, alongside different styles of flooring to define separate areas. Easy clean laminate in the kitchen, wood effect vinyl for the eating area and hard-wearing carpet tiles in the soft seating zone.
The furniture supplied completes the look of the area. Incorporating the college’s colour scheme it is able to accommodate groups of varying sizes; soft seating is mixed with breakfast bar stools and bistro style tables and chairs. The furniture along with the signage compliments the overall aesthetics and presents a durable comfortable space.
With a new school year ahead, staff now have a place where they can relax, recharge and return to the classroom re-energized.
