As part of this investment we were invited to design and deliver a student breakout area in the new IT building. Our brief was to create a flexible space for the young adults to relax and/or study. To compliment this stunning building the college wanted the interior to give them the WOW factor. Above all they wanted a place that, combined with the other facilities they offer, would set them apart from other colleges in the area…
We took on board all their requirements and created a space that would not only look good, but would also encourage students to engage and interact with each other.
Multi functional seating areas were formed to support different styles of working and relaxing, resulting in an appealing space for all the students.
Optimising the space we created a bespoke fixed curved PC area; introduced modular sofas for students to work in comfort and a funky soft seating area, which can be used for informal study or group learning. The use of flip top tables on castors ensures the space can be used to its maximum potential at all times and a dual height support staff ‘help desk’ completes the look of this space… all adding to the overall WOW factor!
All the furniture supplied can be easily reconfigured to suit the needs of the college and students, making the space extremely versatile. The bright colours used for the seating compliment the modern design of the rest of the college and were carefully chosen to promote a stimulating look but at the same time be easily maintained.
The use of contrasting floor finishes help to define zones and separate areas without the need for solid walls and the impressive floor to ceiling glazed frontage allows natural light to flood the area.
