Oxford Aviation Academy
Our client, one of the world’s leading independent providers of integrated aviation training and resourcing services, requested a reception and café/bar re-design that would not only improve the look of the current space but also make best use of it. Our brief was to create an attractive and welcoming but functional reception and café area.
We immediately got to work designing and producing a bespoke reception desk, which not only achieves the ‘look’ the client wanted, but also complies with DDA requirements. Office equipment needed to run this busy reception is now discreetly hidden from view with the help of a partition screen, ensuring the space looks neat and tidy. We used the corporate brand in the form of new signage to enhance the area.
Making best use of the space available we also introduced soft seating, which as well as providing somewhere comfortable and relaxing to sit, offers additional space for informal meetings. The inclusion of ‘hot-desks’/IT pods into this space, allows student pilots, staff and guests to take advantage of the wireless internet access, which is available throughout the training centre. Café style bars, tables, chairs and high stools complete the look of this area.
The design uses cool tones for the soft seating and practical finishes for the feature flooring in the form of karndean for ease of maintenance to the eating areas and carpet tiles to the soft seating areas.
Glazed partitioning separates the café/bar from the reception, this not only maximises the natural light available, it also gives full visibility for the reception staff.
This project was all about producing a relaxing yet functional environment, which would also give a great first impression for this ‘high flying’ organisation.
