If you thought it was hard for children to choose which GCSE subjects to study, by year 11 it’s time to think about what they might study next and where they will continue their education…

With open days taking place up and down the country, students are now deciding which sixth form/college they would like to attend, and although student grades and the academic achievements of the college will play vital roles in their decision, the look and feel of the school will also feature highly. Therefore it’s essential that you create a warm, welcoming feel, starting with the reception area…

The school reception area is the heart of the school.  It is the first place that students will see on entering the premises, therefore the reception design will play an important role in forming an impression of the college as a whole in their minds.

beforeWorking closely with the staff at Holy Cross Sixth Form College in Bury, we were invited to design and furnish their Student Services reception area and staff office space.  This specialist A Level college has a long record of being in the top ten colleges nationally for results, therefore needed an environment befitting their status.

Committed to providing high quality facilities and resources for both students and staff, significant building works have taken place at the college in recent years.  The latest development was the extension and remodelling of the Student Services area to allow for an improved reception and staff work areas.

Our experience in bespoke furniture design and installation allowed us to create a reception desk to accommodate up to 4 staff andafter secure storewall that was not only DDA and Health & Safety compliant, but one that also resolved storage issues faced by the college.  Read more here…

We appreciate that the task of redesigning a reception or any other area within your school or college might seem overwhelming,
but with the right knowledge and guidance from the experts it can be easier than you think.  At Whitespace we have gained considerable experience in the refurbishment of Sixth Form schools and colleges throughout the North West and we understand that in many cases works need to be completed out of term time to avoid disruption.  We will work with you to timetable the works to ensure we make the most of the time available to us.  Follow the link to view our other Education case studies in full //www.whitespace.org.uk/case-studies/education
