Has technology changed the way you work?
There’s no doubt that we rely on the latest technology to make us more efficient. In the last couple of hours alone I’ve tweeted, whatsapped, linked to my ‘in’, facebooked and instagramed, oh and I may have sent the odd email all from my smartphone while sat on a beanbag in our breakout area!
Why? Because these days we don’t need to be tied to our office desks to do our jobs, we can do them from almost anywhere. Pretty hard to come to terms with eh? Especially if you come from an age where if someone wasn’t sat at their desk they were either on holiday or off sick!
But now as long as we have a good Wi-Fi connection we can operate from the office washroom if we want to! Although we wouldn’t advise that unless it’s recently been refurbished by Whitespace of course…
So, what does the rise in technology mean for workplace design?
- With the introduction of tablets, laptops and smartphones, desks are getting smaller
- Employees are able to work off-site, although they still require a base, therefore hot-desking is becoming popular
- Ergonomic furniture is a must to look after the health and wellbeing of staff
- More and more companies are introducing breakout areas where staff can go to relax or even work if the mood takes them
Although, it’s not all about reducing office space and keeping up with the latest trends, it’s about optimisation and making your space more flexible. More and more companies are realising the benefits of a flexible working environment, a workplace that encourages communication and collaboration.
At Whitespace we spend all day, every day working with space and making optimum use of what our clients have at their disposal. We understand that every business is different and as such they want different things from their working environment, so we tailor our service to suit needs and budget. For us, it’s all about achieving the most cost effective solutions to meet specific requirements and maximising the space available. Contact us for more information.
