Furniture for Dining Areas
Along with a good classroom, library and ICT facilities, it’s essential that schools and colleges also provide students with the right environment in which to eat.
There are many factors that contribute to a positive dining experience; but one element that should not be overlooked is the school dining furniture.
With space at a premium for some education establishments; more so in primary schools, the ‘dining hall’ will have a variety of uses, for example; daily assembly or sports activities, so a flexible approach is required. However, it is important to make the room look and feel like a dining space when it is being used for that purpose. This can be achieved with the introduction of stackable chairs and flip top and/or folding tables that can be quickly and easily stored away when not in use. Alternatively, some secondary schools and colleges tend to go for a more bespoke look with booth style fixed seating arrangements; some even opt for a mixture of the two, allowing them to truly optimise the space.
Durability and comfort should be key to the furniture selection, but, that doesn’t mean it has to be boring; by using different colours, styles and finishes you can get the look you require without compromising on quality.
At Whitespace we work closely with our clients to design, space plan and install the most suitable dining facilities, advising on the best furniture options available and if we can’t find the right off-the-shelf product we are experienced in designing and installing bespoke furniture solutions to suit your needs and budget.
We have successfully created school dining areas in a variety of education environments from primary school to sixth form colleges, see our latest work here. Our aim is to deliver spaces to eat and relax in, but above all encourage students to use them.
