Time for a nap?

Is that a yawn? It must be 14.22! That’s the time research has revealed most people get an energy lull… Apparently it’s completely normal to feel tired once the afternoon sets in, more so if we’ve had a super busy morning. And, although afternoon siestas are the norm in many countries, in the UK few can afford the luxury of an afternoon nap…

Factors such as, poor sleep the night before and what and how much we eat for lunch, even what we drink throughout the day can affect how we feel.

But, what if changes to your working environment could make a difference?

Just take a minute to look around your workspace; do you have room to move around freely, do a little deskercise perhaps? A bit of exercise (even a few stretches) are said to increase energy levels and boost our mood! What’s the temperature like, too cold or too hot? Do you have enough natural light? We are said to perform better at temperatures of around 68°F and when we have a view of the outside. What condition is the office furniture in? Do you have a breakout area; somewhere to get away from your computer screen, even if it’s only for a few minutes? (We don’t mean somewhere to have a sneaky 40 winks, unless it’s lunchtime of course). More hours in front of a screen doesn’t necessarily mean you’re more productive!

Studies show that improving these physical factors can contribute to a positive, comfortable and inspiring workplace.

How to sell more toothpaste…

When designing office interiors, we consider all of this and more, ensuring that it’s designed in such a way as to improve employee productivity rather than hinder it. Happy, productive staff contribute to the success of the business…
