Bamford Dental

This modern, seven surgery dental practice based in Rochdale houses a specialised team of caring dental professionals, who provide routine dentistry and specialist support services. Their aim is to provide comprehensive advice and treatment, with an emphasis on prevention, in a modern and relaxed environment using the latest equipment and techniques.

Our brief was to provide the practice with a professional, efficient reception desk that would reflect the quality of the practice and the variety of the work they undertake, whilst at the same time keeping the practice open and fully functioning.

Previously the space had been occupied by two separate reception desks, dealing with different areas of the business. Taking into account building constraints, we designed one bespoke reception desk, which would accommodate up to three receptionists comfortably. As this is a very busy practice, space is at a premium, following an extensive consultation process; we developed a reception desk that would maximise the space without dwarfing the area.

Our experience in bespoke furniture allowed us to design a reception desk that was not only DDA and Health & Safety compliant, but that also tackled their ongoing storage issues. We provided room for all the necessary equipment on the desk without it feeling cramped, pigeon holes for their stationary and storage solutions under and behind the desk so that the working area remained clutter free. The new desk, in a stone oak finish, compliments the flooring and other finishes within the space. We were also asked to create a ‘point-of-sale’ display for dental accessories; we achieved this in the form of a stylish, wall mounted glass cabinet.

To complete the look we introduced corporate signage, back lit to enhance the space and vinyl graphics were applied to the front of the desk directing patients to the relevant receptionists.

The project was completed outside normal working hours so that the client remained operational throughout.
